Maureen and Doug -The Beginning

Episode 1

Hello everyone, and happy Tuesday… and for those celebrating, happy St. Patrick’s Day.

Today I’m putting the spotlight on a couple who came into my life at a very special moment, as part of this week’s Lighthouse mini-series.

Maureen and Doug came into my life at a moment of transition. Mike and I were dating and I was spending a lot of time in Chicago and was quietly rebuilding my business after closing my chapter in Puerto Vallarta. Everything felt new and full of possibility.

I had a brand new website, logo, and business now based in Chicago. Mike and I were dating mostly long-distance. I was making new friends, falling in love, and simply enjoying being young in one of the best cities in the world.

And then… they found me.

In a way, they were also in a huge transition in their lives… more on that as the mini-series unfolds.

Maureen was incredibly sharp, tech-savvy, and ahead of her time. She worked at Google, and funny enough, she introduced me to tools that would later become essential in my business — things like Pinterest and early Google video calls.

She requested that the entire management of her wedding happen within Google, and I’ve worked that way ever since. Google Drive, Google Meets, shared documents… it just works.

It’s always interesting when a client doesn’t just hire you… but also expands you. And Maureen definitely expanded me.

At that time, as I mentioned above, Mike and I were also in a long-distance relationship. Whenever I was in Chicago,, I would schedule meetings with my clients, and my meetings with Maureen and Doug were always so fun — usually paired with a delicious glass of wine.

What you don’t know yet is their love story — it’s a beautiful one — and how the planning took a turn in a completely new direction. It would take us across time zones, new destinations, and into a new chapter of my career.

More to come this week on Maureen and Doug’s mini-series.
